As a Trainee Finance Associate with Kainos, you will spend your year learning the role of a Finance Team within a past-paced, challenging PLC environment. You’ll have great support and mentoring, balanced with the experience of being given real, meaningful work to do, to help you truly develop both technically and professionally.


What you’ll do

The Trainee Finance Assistant will be responsible for performing a wide variety of accounting tasks which will include, but is not limited to, the following duties:

  • Preparation of Invest NI grant claims
  • Provide financial analysis to other departments in the Group
  • Bank account reconciliations
  • Reconciliation of nominal accounts on a regular basis
  • Processing foreign currency supplier invoices and credit notes, matching against purchase orders and approval list
  • Assistance with VAT returns
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and resolve any differences 
  • Prepare payments (BACS, cheques, direct debits and standing orders) 
  • Ensure all invoices have the appropriate approvals prior to payment (e.g. purchase order, sign off) 
  • Use electronic banking to monitor cash balances and make payments 
  • Provide support to the Finance Manager and Deputy CFO as required 
  • Preparing accruals
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register, including monthly depreciation journals and reconciliation 


Who you are

  • You are currently studying a degree with Finance and/or Accounting components.
  • You apply all relevant standards and procedures to your own work. 
  • You’re capable of working with limited supervision.
  • You comply with all confidentiality and non-disclosure policies and/or agreements and ensures security of information at all times.
  • We are a customer focused business, so people with strong communication skills, who are professional, credible and open is a must
  • We all work in teams here in Kainos – strong team skills are crucial
  • We pride ourselves in doing our best and delivering to a high standard, so attention to detail and having a high quality focus is definitely required.
