Giving back

Through charitable giving, fundraising and our unique Tech Outreach programme, giving back to our local communities is one of our priorities.

Working together to make a difference

We believe we have a responsibility to give back to local communities. Each year, our staff nominate two different charities to support financially through fundraising activities like bake sales, sponsored runs and raffles.

But it’s more than just raising money. Our people dedicate their time and resources to help to create and run pioneering social outreach initiatives through our own charitable programme, Tech Outreach, a ground-breaking programme that helps thousands of young people improve their digital skills.

Our Tech Outreach programme

Young people are the future of the digital economy, and in order to secure that future we want to radically inspire, enthuse and educate them.

We believe that it's vital to invest in the next generation of innovators, creators and leaders. As one of the UK’s leading digital technology companies, working on UK and international projects at the forefront of software development, we're proud to lead the way with Tech Outreach.

Seamus

Over this past year, I’ve really enjoyed working in partnership with CCEA to build a CPD programme that would allow primary school teachers the opportunity to build their confidence and skills within digital technologies. As well as making a difference in our local community, it’s given me opportunities to build relationships with other IT companies in Northern Ireland. I can’t wait to see what the next phase of the programme brings!

Kainos encourages employees to get involved in delivering Tech Outreach activities to kids in local schools to help promote confidence in young people’s ICT skills. I remembered the lack of ICT focused activities I had in school growing up, and I hoped that by offering a Code Club some kids could really benefit from the experience. The kids’ enthusiasm was infectious, and the rate at which they picked up programming was incredible.

Seeing the campers come in and flourish with the skills that we have taught them is fantastic. The whole structure of the camp works really well, spending time focusing on development skills but also breaking out and giving them exposure to other roles within the IT industry – showing that it’s not all about coding! It’s a thoroughly enjoyable two weeks for everyone involved.

We’ve brought Lego EV programming, web technologies, CodeBug robot programming and life skills to children from various walks of life, and the feedback we have had from them all has been fantastic. All of the people who hear about what we do come away impressed and the children, teachers and schools who have taken advantage of our Tech Outreach services have been thoroughly impressed by what we have to offer and extremely thankful for our time.
